You can also do that, in Windows XP, in Control Panel, Power Management, and setting the system to Desktop or Always On.

Thankyou both for replying.I am running xp btw.
Always on does not fix it.
I tried speedswitchxp and throttling is still enabled and it jumps from 997MHz to 1995MHz and back still.
This is making games unbearable.

If you are running on A/C, speedswitch or speedstep should not kick in.

if you are running on AC, it shouldn't be enabled unless your laptop is malfunctioning.

it does that also with 2 of my Dell laptops but they have an option in their bios to disable speedstep.

Speestep is a program, and you might be able to remove it.

speedstep is a processor function,it is not called speedstep on the new coreduo but that is what it is.
I contacted Intel and they said that if there isin't an option in the BIOS then there is no way to disable it.
This really makes me feel cheated as I want it to run at 2GHz as advertised.
I shouldn't have to run any utilities.GW has been running me around, everytime I contact them they take me to the same old power options in windows which does not disable it.
I am really frustrated.
This isn't a problem when I have been playing SNES games with ZSNES but recently I have been trying to play PSX and PC games and this is absolutly intollerable.
GW has NO power options in the BIOS except for LCD dimming on battery.
