Does anyone know anything about wireless webcams?

I've got the bright idea that I NEED a wireless webcam for some reason, but I'm only able to find the two models that Linksys makes(.11g/.11b) and the several that D-Link makes(and they're so much more expensive).
Has anyone come across any other brands and possibly tried them out?
I think it would be neat to have a couple scattered around the house, but not neat enough to spend the $500CND D-Link wants. Linksys's are tempting, but don't get great reviews.
 
Or, possibly better yet, is it even possible to hook a USB camera(since there's so many more) up to some sort of wireless access point or something allowing it to have it's own IP and operate wirelessly? It'd have to have a USB port and be able to run standalone since the camera may or may not have a built in web server like the higher end D-Link/Linksys ones do. I don't know if there's even such a technology.
Ideas?
