Does anyone know anything about a movie named RAN?

I got into a great discussion with a commuter on the train home (NJtransit) about religion (it started when I asked about Easter...). Anyhow, he said that one of his favorite movies, and one that espoused what his stance on spirituality and justice was a movie called RAN. I think the director's name is Akira Korusowa....

Opinions on it?

I actually just watched it on Friday. The director is Akira Kurosawa. It's a good movie... don't know what to really say about it 🙂

I thought it was a pretty good movie too but I'm not sure what it has to do with spirituality; it's an adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear.

An awesome movie. It is like the story of King Lear and his daughters (but in this case sons). Intense and beautiful.

..and if you're new to Kurosawa it's probably easier to get into than his black and white classics like Seven Samurai and Hidden Fortress. It's a great widescreen movie (glad I saw it in the theater) and highly recommended, but it's more an epic tragedy than a statement of philosophy.
