Does anyone know anyone in Tech Support @ Dell who can help a real close personal friend?

Hi,

My friend (co-worker sitting next to me) - is being given such a terrible run-around from Dell. He received the computer (really nice rig) - as a gift around christmas time. About a month ago - started reporting the wrong ram - randomly - lots of blue screens - been constantly talking to Dell Tech support. THe tech came out once - wrong part. - then he has cancelled his last 3 !!! visits to my co-workers apartment (and he has had to take time off for each one) - the guy cancelled within 15 minutes of the start of the appointment each time. (there is also apparently only 2 tech for all of the city - and can only come from 9-5 - additionally the tech guy says he has another job and doesnt really have time to make visits.)

If anyone has anyone they know at tell that my friend could speak too, it would be greatly appreciated. He has only been talking to/emailing with Tech support in India, and it is going nowhere.

If you're comfortable doing it, just tell the Dell tech to send him the ram instead of dealing with Dell's 3rd party repair techs.
 
They have totally refused this, and said they will void the warranty if he replaces it with "third party" ram (like they make thier own...)
 
Nononono... I'm not saying use your own ram, I'm saying have the Dell people send the ram to the owner of the PC instead of the service tech.
 
I'm not a dell tech, but i did stay at a holiday in express last night 🙂

jsut have em send u the ram and pop it in yourself...
 
I don't think that it matters if it voids the warranty. They can't void a warranty for you putting in new ram. At least in my state they can't. Second of all if it is under warranty you have rights to have it fixed in a reasonable amount of time say like less than 2 weeks is reasonable. I would call them and ask to speak to someone in charge and explain the situation and ask the person how they are able to help with this situation. Turn it around on them. Be nice about it all. Usually it does work. If it doesn't than say that you will be getting a lawyer involved due to a faulty contract. There is another term for what I am trying to say but basically they do have to fix things in a reasonable amount of time.

And the last piece of advice. Don't buy another Dell.

his warranty wont be void, but if the memory causes problems, it's not covered. so if the motherboard fails, they wont cover it. however, if the HDD or the video dies, it is still covered.
 
I have a dimension 4400 P4 1.6 POS I'm working on right now. Replaced the memory a couple times and tried different video cards with no real luck. Blue screens while formatting so it may be a hard drive. This machine has never worked right since day 1 and dell support sucks. They "looked" at it but thats about it.
