Not sure what the difference is or when it will be available?

The only difference I can find is the removal of the 2 SAS ports. Hopefully that will result in a lower price, probably $249.00 retail vs $299.00 for the original?

Yep, that's what it looks like, a cheaper version of the original. Gigabyte has more selection and I'm guessing that's why this board is coming out... (in other words there are cheaper i7 boards out there and Asus has to do something about it)
