I just come across a special offer on 'Creative 3D Blaster TNT2 Gamer'. They claim it uses TNT2 Ultra chip. While I refered to www.3dblaster.com. I found nothing there. Does anyone have any idea what it really is?

Thanks

Throin:

I think I should believe you though I couldn't find the name in the review. Anyway, what do you think of an offer of $65 on that card?

"Creative Labs 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 Ultra"

They never refer to it as the 'Gamer' but the rest is exactly that you are looking for.

Give us the link to the offer?

You could always call CL:

fow99, if you can find another $40 you can buy a Geforce2 MX,btw I had a Creative 3D blaster TNT1 AGP card, which served me well for two years but speed wise my new Geforce2 MX smokes it,the funny thing is the TNT card cost me more money new then the MX.

You can check the link yourself. From the spec they gave there, I reckon it should be a Ultra anyway.
Actually I am in Ireland. So the offers was by a site in Ireland. And I converted the currency.
As usausally the component price in Ireland is ridiculously high. It is really not easy to find a real offer. This one, to my knowledge, is quite cheap here.

I don't know why their main title has "Gamer" added on, but notice in the last bullet.

"With high performance, outstanding image quality, a large frame buffer, and flexible display options, the 3D Blaster TNT2 Ultra is the perfect general-purpose graphics card for high-end machines."

I would second the GeForce 2 MX, I think that for, as Mem said, an extra $40, it would be well worth it

Agreed if you can wait an extra week or two and earn or save (job, work@home, allowance, whatever) the $40 the MX is more then well worth it.

Yap. I agree with you guys as well. I would be content for quite a well if I could get a MX. But as I mentioned the price here is.. :(
a MX would cost me definitely over $200.

Sry to hear that dude :(

I think you need some US relatives that can send you one for a BDay or Christmas.

The TNT2U is a good video chipset still.

I actually got a reply from that site regarding this. Here it goes:

Yep the Gamer is the forerunner to the Vanta - hence we can offer it at
such
a great price. It is basically the same spec as the vanta but the vanta
has
1 extra chip! Performance is comparable
