Does anyone in here drink Pomegranate juice?

This was recommended by Dr. Oz on Oprah a while back, and seems to be a wonder juice. Does anyone know if it tastes appealing? Or possibly if its available at Wal-mart, Target, or major food retailers?

Ripped from Wiki - Pomegranate juice is a juice taken from the pomegranate fruit. Studies indicate that pomegranate juice reduces arterial plaque, reduces systolic blood pressure, and reduces LDL cholesterol.

One 250 ml (8.45 oz) glass of pomegranate juice provides approximately 50% of an adult's recommended daily allowance (RDA) of the vitamins A, C and E. Pomegranate juice provides 100% RDA of folic acid and a substantial amount of potassium and niacin.

Just looking for some feedback or opinions.

Lord knows I need to improve in all 3 categories this juice claims to help.

Tried it a couple times, quite tasty. Too expensive for daily enjoyment. Eat pomegranates off the tree in the back yard though.

..I get it out at costco. Squeeze a lemon and a lime in a glass of it for even more tartness.

It has been about 2 years, but I'm thinking it was roughly 16 oz and ~$4 to ~$5 for that POM brand. I think it is the expensive brand though.

It has been sitting in the vegetable and/or fruit isle in every grocery store I've seen (many different chains). So, it isn't hard to find.

My dad drinks a fair amount of the POM brand stuff. He seems to like it, but since it is expensive, I believe he mixes it with other juice fairly often.

Kroger's carries the whole fruit. So does Whole Foods. November is the time for ripe fresh poms. 2 for $3 is a good deal. $5 for 2 is not.

If you want just the juice, bottled, look in the fresh fruit section of the store where they keep things on ice or refrigerated. The brand name is Pom, kind of in a shape of an hourglass.

Fresh Pomegranate instructions:
1) Slice the top and bottom of the fruit. (It looks like a large red delicious apple). Don't slice too much as you will cut into the seeds, just enough to keep it from rolling.

2) Score the sides of the fruit from top to bottom, about an 1/8 inch deep, either four or eight.

3) Get a large bowl or pot full of cold water. Put the scored fruits in the water.

4) From the score marks, pull apart the fruit. There is a lot of white connective flesh (like what you see in oranges) that the seeds adhere to.

5) Gently pull the seeds away from the white stuff. The neat thing is that the seeds will sink and the white stuff floats. After you've pulled all the seeds away, just scope out the white stuff and discard. The seeds you can pat dry and store in the fridge.

The seeds have a red juice coating (it looks like a red piece of corn) around a crunchy seed. You don't have to spit the seed part out, it is edible and full of fiber.

I like to have them cold and scoop out a bunch to snack on, like peanuts.

Warning: the red juice will stain!

Just eat it. The juices are probably loaded with artificial sweeteners, though its a very sweet fruit. Its one of those fruits you can eat for half an hour in front of a tv.

Is it easy to find the actual fruit at food retailers?
All the large supermarket chains around me have them this time of year. Other months you'll probably have to look long and hard to find them. The red seed is tart, but a wonderful snack.

I buy POM at the local grocery store. I either get just the plain juice or the one with cherry in it.

Very good for you.
