Just got a Power Macintosh G3 that will not power on. Can't even figure out how to open the darn thing up and have had practically had no luck finding help on-line. Seems nobody does MAC repair except "authorize MAC repair centers". Can't find part for sale either. If this isn't reason enough for everyone to switch to IBM compatible then I don't know what is...
It's probably the PSU but could be something else. My ATX PSU tester does not work on the MAC PSU.
There is a 3.6 V lithium battery on the mobo that might be causing the problem. I tried testing this battery with a battery tester set at 3.0V lithium and it told me that the battery is good. I don't know if this is a valid reading though since the tester was set at 3.0V and does not have a 3.6V setting.
A really stupid question:
I am not sure I am pressing the proper key to power this thing on. The switch on the PSU is definitely in the ON position. I was told that the keyboard is used to actually power the maching on.I am kind of guessing that it is the key in the upper right corner with the little triangle on it that powers the machine up. Is this correct? Is there anything I am missing here?
This is going to put me off on MACS forever...
