i am having consistent (and we're talking over 3 weeks) issues with bandwidth and being throttled unnecessarily. phone support doesn't help.

anyone else have this issue? anyone here who works for them who can PM me and give me some info?

i'm sick of this and there's unfortunately no other internet option in my area.

When Optonline cable came out a few months after Verizon DSL, I quickly switched over. I liked it in the beginning until everyone started getting it, then the connected slowed down tremendouly. If you are downloading or uploading legit files to someone during peak hours, they cap you without hesitating. I've also received copyright infringment notices from them in the past. Going to call it quits in a few months and move to Verizon Fios. Optimum Online is on its way down the crapper...

verizon fios is not available in my area for now. i'll probably get it when it is. this is disturbing though. optonline will not give you a legit excuse for their caps except to tell you to keep them under an hour -- which i did and followed extremely closely. the fact that i got capped (this is the fourth time in 2 weeks) disturbs me, and i'm wondering if it's grounds for a lawsuit (i heard something similar happened with comcast -- anyone have any ideas?)

fobot: it's cable. verizon is DSL. verizon fios is... well, fios. 😛

^ I"ve voiced my opinion quite a few times on ATOT about them and capping. I've been capped 4 times also and each after following their instructions on how not to get capped... they keep changing their "policies"... which they still don't admit to (see dslreports.com for others in the same boat). I was so sick of their crap I switched to an inferior (speed-wise) Verizon DSL... I'm still waiting for FIOS. Never again... OptimumOnline.

i'm going to actually use both. this capping is ridiculous though. someone please find out if this kind of limitation (since we're paying for the service and using it legitimately) is grounds for a lawsuit. are there any lawyers in the house?
