Exactly - unless it's expressly stated in the contract, you're not likely to get anything out of them. Salesmen do all they can to sell those service plans (including lying) which are mostly profit for the store.Originally posted by: AnyMal
What's in the contract? If accidental damage is not covered in the contract you're SOL.
The exact terminology used at BB was "wear and tear" - meaning in the X numbers of years you chose for the extended warranty, if the keyboard was to ever wear out or touchpad start working erratically, they'd restore it to 100% health. We (BB employees) were implicitly told to make out as if the strictness of judging equipment as having suffered only normal wear/tear wasn't that forceful.Originally posted by: MrBond

I actually think Best Buy's service plans used to cover accidental damage, but I'm fairly sure they changed that recently so it doesn't.

From what I've heard, they're not encouraged to lie - but they're forced to sell those service plans any way they can, so many often resort to lies or misinformation to sell them.Originally posted by: RedCOMET
If the salesman are "encouraged" to lie to sell something by the company, it's a good thing they work for such a responsible corporate citizen.
You could just file a complaint with the Better Business bureau, just for thought of some closure.
