Does anyone here use Veritas Netbackup?

We have a Veritas server at work, and I was just wondering how you like it? What do you feel are its strengths and weaknesses? Any good websites or learning materials out there?

I'd like to become more fluent with it. I'm a shift lead in a NOC and I figure that I should know about the systems that I'm using.

Thanks!

people complain about windows having bugs, but Veritas is king of bugggy software

it's pretty good, but a lot of times some things just don't work for some mysterious reason, we had a bug in the previous version where secondary copies couldn't be imported and I hear version 6 is giving plenty of headaches to people and is to be avoided until early next year

never used legato, think they got bought out by EMC

Veritas is not bad, but it's a monster and I've only used the UNIX version because we have to back up UNIX servers

be careful with version 6 since i have read some horror stories

Place where i work now use Evault disk based back up system. pretty good, but i don't completely trust it since it's so new. still use tape and veritas for SQL. my biggest complaint is verifying backups. there is no easy way other than to manually check them yourself. also tested Avamar which is technically even better, but a budget buster
