When I first got it about 3 months ago, it was nice and fast . Now it is really sucky. At prime time I think I would do better with a 56k modem sometimes. I installed the MTU tweaks... I took them out... still no good..put them back in.I call the csr at optonline and they say everything is good. I ask for 2nd level support and tell the guy that I know a litle about networking and they send someone out. The tech blames it on the Node that Im on. He says that the way my area was set up a few years ago was 500 to a node. He says now they are rebuilding the netwrok with better equipment and only 250 to a node.He said it should be done in a couple of weeks. That was 4 weeks ago. Is it my node or is it the entire internet getting clogged up aty different times of the day.

Dude, I'm an ex tech at optimum. 500 a Node ? AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

I can scan you a document as of last august, I think we have 4000+ homes through a NODE

Oh BTW, are you in apt or house and do you have a direct drop to your modem if not did you did the home wiring and if you did, RG56 wires or RG59 ? Are you in Long Island or Connecticut ? Conn gets better/faster, LongIsland is CLOGGED to hell

optonline is working really well here in CT... consistantly nice and fast (unlike my previous @home cable ISP).

There's less in connecticut because some of the streets only have 3 houses (in greenwich) that is.. in long island, 1 block has like 10 house each side. LI is not good, ct is better but the ct lines are old and hard to find (they didn't map the nodes). Like someone just threw darts on the map and give it a number..
