Does anyone here print from a laptop to their printer via infrared?

I have an HP Photosmart 1000 printer and I've always had it hooked up via USB connection. Well, I got rid of my desktop and my lappy is now my primary computer. It would really help to free up a USB connection so I enabled infrared in my Dell's BIOS and selected the correct port in my printer settings, but nothing will print. Is there any type of software (besides the normal drivers) that I need? Or am I doing something wrong?

I think you also have to make sure the printer's connection is via IR. In XP, Settings, Printers, your printer, and properties, ports.
