Does anyone here practice Scientology?

Nocturnal

If so, what is it all about? I know a bunch of rich actors are all into it. Do they just believe that science is pretty much everything, no God, no spiritual being, etc?

They believe god is trapped in a volcano on another planet.<a href="http://www.xenu.net/">

Scientology is about as much of a religion as Walmart is a religion. There's real religion... and then there's Scientology - an incorporated elite that only a few rich people can join and pay their way through

Think of it like a real life roleplaying game. You start off at a 'low level', with only some knowledge, and the more you pay, the more books and education you get, and the higher you advance. Infact, at some of the higher levels they claim you can get supernatural powers. If you ever read some of the books, it starts off sounding quite scientific actually. They use lots of psychological references, and a lot of it seems common sense or practical. But the more you read and the more you advance, the more twisted the theories become. Of course, everything is presented slowly, so you don't see the twisted changes unless you're well educated (especially in the behavior sciences). For example, some of their 'supernatural' powers that you can gain are quite popular psychological techniques... what you'll find in an undergrad text book or even Tony Robbin's books.

absolutely no idea if this is true but someone this week told me that "scientology looks at a ratio of iq to welth and tries to get people with the lowest ratio to join them" (or maybe it was welth to iq and ratio they were looking for was high....either way)

but i thought it was funny

It's amazing that Scientology has come "this far" is so many ways. The whole cultish thing .... yet people like Tom Cruise are members. Weird.
