i'll be moving soon to an apartment and need broadband... the cheapest route for me is probably to get dsl and pay for some cheap phone service. i heard sbc offers a $7 service where you charged for any minute used...

does anyone have this? comcast is a ripoff.

I have it. we never use the phone, so we just went with the cheapest availible plan to go with dsl.

both my roommate and I use our cellphones for all of our calls.

i have verizon in NYC

dial tone was 8.61
double it because of tax ~ $17
add 32.45 for dsl ~ 49.45

cable = 44.45

i've been too lazy to switch to cable but i will soon

sbc doesn't service your area or you just like verizon's service better?

fees are roughly the same for me (Jersey City, right across the river from NYC). I don't mind paying the extra couple bucks because DSL is faster than cable in my area.
