ok don't bother seems COD AW simply does not support dual core chips and the game will give an error and will not launch

it works fine on dual cores with a hacked exe file but activision forced the game to crash if it detects dual core CPU for the purpose of marketing gimmick, into thinking because it needs 4 cores its next gen

This garbage company keeps shafting PC gamers, battlefield 4 is light years ahead of this game and runs fine on over clocked Dual core CPU even on 64 player servers

I just realize this won't start up on dual core it will actually give an error

so ok time for CPU upgrade

Quite silly to to have an exception if its not a quadcore. Have it really come to this? Just a big downhill ride. :/

You actually did buy the game right? Maybe try reinstalling.

The post makes it sound like the highest setting wasn't available if you had a dual core not that it would not run.

No I did not buy the game as yet I was planning on it.

However to run COD AW on a dual core CPU you need to copy and paste and overwrite the original .exe file with one downloaded from an unknown source. similar to if you torrented a cracked game.

I am not too sure about how I feel doing this as modding the .exe file can get you banned. Sure COD AW does not seem to support VAC but still you never know.

The funny thing is if you did put in the modded exe file, COD AW actually runs fantastic on dual core you get butter smooth performance on crappy dual core CPU

Activision and Sledgehammer games decided to lock out dual core CPU to give the illusion that AW is somehow a high end next gen game by putting minimum requirements as quad core. Because they know battlefield 4 minimum is dual core

So again and again activision thinks their COD player base are utter illiterate idiots. And they might be right after all its the same game they release every year and people keep buying it. I only buy games on sale at the biggest discount I can get.

The decision to ban dual core CPU from AW has nothing to do with incompatibility or performance issues but for marketing purposes. Lets hope treyarch makes the next call of duty and that it can run on dual core.

the whole issue is that COD does not need more than dual core simply because its online is 18 players max and the maps are small this is the reason even a pentium 4 can run the latest COD.

Why would any game publisher do this?!?!

I can stop thinking on the comment that Sony and MS pressure developers to make the new consoles look better than they are.

Because there is absolutely zero reason for the publisher to do it on its own.

probably coded for an atom-like 8-way processor that goes very slow and relies on many threads - thinking folks with their sempron will buy the game and return it after miserable experience!

Seeing that this garbage game only demands 4 cores solely for marketing purposes.

is there a way to trick this game into thinking your system has 4 cores? like a software that shows mimmics a false CPU model or something?

Last cod had a thing where it refused to start if you didn't have a certain amount of memory in your system, then it only used a fraction of it. I guess they don't learn.

anyway, it got patched out, they might patch it out of this one too if enough people complain. But who really cares, it's cod, the game balance is tuned for controller sticks, laserbeam is crazy OP on pc, pretty clear pc is just an afterthought.

^ yeah ain't even gonna bother with this garbage anymore. I do have $30 in my steam wallet so I will buy black ops 2 for thanks giving/black friday.

Black ops 2 is still heavily played on start contrast the daily peak of black ops 2 is around 10K while the daily peak of Advanced Warfare is around 30K. Now take into consideration BO2 is 2 years old while AW is just what 7 days old?

Nope crashes on triple core also. It has a built in code to force the game to crash to give it the illusion that 4 cores are necessary so people would think its next gen.

This was done to compete with Battlefield 4 so the casual COD crowd will think its superior to battlefield 4 since it has higher requirements.

The sad thing is Advanced Warfare looks much more inferior to 2011's battlefield 3.
A quick look at the Engine shows its the same COD Ghosts Engine oudated Engine with a few extras added on.

Its still not next gen and still lacks a lot of technology found in battlefield 3.

It's not about the tech and the engine, counterstrike go isn't impressive from a technical standpoint, but it has a daily peak of 200K, 7 times advanced warfare.

There is a "crack" to let the game run on a dual core cpu. I have a quad, so haven't tried it, but supposedly it works. There are a lot of posts on the internet about it. The game actually runs quite well on an i3 according to Game.gpu.

Anyway, so much for the great cross platform games we were supposed to get from the x86 consoles. Seems like ports are even lazier and less optimized than before. And I dont really know why COD is doing basically sabotaging their own games so that they require a certain amount of ram or cpu to run when it is not necessary. Seems like they are either trying to make the game sound impressive by inflating the requirements, or just trying to drive people to consoles, which is what I think they are doing. Anyway, a pretty pathetic situation.

I don't see any indication that the OP's concern is real...

Here a user is running on Surface Pro 2 (2 cores, 4 threads)... User reports in notes that the game also runs on HD4000 (presumably Ivybridge mobile 2C/4T + GT2 graphics). No indication of any hacking/patching required.

Likewise the gamegpu link below makes no mention of any hacking/etc required for this to work on dual core systems.

Notebookcheck also tested with dual core systems too (laptops with Core i5-4200M, Core i7-2637M, Core i5-4340M are dual core). No mention of any funny business there.

If so, it would seem that all Intel Cpus that have 4 threads would work - including desktop i3+, all mobile Core i3/i5/i7.

The only question would be seem to be 2 thread parts (2C/2T Pentium/Celeron branded SNB/IVB/HSW)??

it's clear that the game runs with 4 threads (even if the CPU have 2 cores with ht), the game simply does not work with less than 4 threads,

great news, idiot Activision has removed the CPU lock on advanced warfare with the new patch they sent out today. I knew they were full of shit trying to scam people into thinking their Engine needed a quad core, they only lied to make it look like they have an advanced Engine

Now after constant insult and abuse from the community who found out they were full of shit just like they did with ghosts now you can run AW on dual core CPU just fine

This is a image posted by a steam user. A number of people now say dual cores work fine with this new patch from sledge hammer so no need for anymore strange exe files

and would you believe it runs just fine on even the crappiest amd dual core CPU?

wow they just imagine they pulled another ghost on us. The fatal error will keep popping up everytime you play the game but you just have to hit yes to accept it and the game works fine. These idiots insist on having that error all the time so it will still look like yeah u know what sure we said its quad core and we realized it looks like we lied so listen it does need quad core u know but we will still let you guys run dual core

Check this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvonYEu5qFs

this guy is running a ancient athlon X2 64 bit CPU and he gets no lower than 40 FPS and thats because he is using a bad Geforce 730 GPU

many reports of lots of very low end CPU running AW just fine at full FPS. I knew this company was full of shit just like they were with Ghosts
