Does anyone here overclock their retail E6420 with the stock heatsink/fan ?

How high of a overclock are you able to get it in gaming for it to be safe so the cpu doesn't fry ? Whats the temps in idle and high load? Is this recommended to do with the retail heatsink/fan or is it a lot better to get a good heatsink/fan if you really want to overclock a E6420 ? If you never overclocked before is it ok to do it still with the stock heatsink/fan as long as you do it a little at a time?

It's alot better to have a good heatsink, when overclocking any cpu. But, the stock heatsink is supposed to be good for up to around 2.7-2.8 Ghz, comfortably.

Is that considered a really good overclock or what? Does it really make a huge difference? Like in games if you have a Geforce 8800 video card ? What would the temps be running at during idle and high load with this kind of overclock on the stock heatsink/fan ?

How high can you get with a better heatsink and fan ? What kind of temps can you get as well ? I know water cooling would bring the temps down a lot but I really don't want to pay for that or risk it. I don't think I would do a good job and would ruin all my pc parts.

No, that's a really lousy overclock. And yes, with a $50+ heatsink, your load temps will be at least 10C lower than the stock heatsink, and more than that, once you start overclocking..

Whats considered a good overclock for this processor and has anyone got close to this with the stock fan and heatsink ?
