My roommate has never heard of him before. I thought that he would recognize him after I played a few songs but nope. He's never heard a single song by him. How is this possible?!?!

I never saw that one. The video for Don't Come Around Here No More was pretty cool though.

Of course it's possible a lot of people don't know him. Rock and Roll as a music genre played on popular radio is dead, and we have a whole generation of kids (ATOT age) who grew up thinking rap is good mainstream music.

Tom Petty is an awesome artist.

Oh, hahaha, I guess he would be labeled under Rock and Roll, now that I have read the thread. ;) :p

I heard some of his music... he was very good at the time. Eric Clapton has lasted though.

Yeah, it's sad. I saw him live in concert 2 years ago and he was amazing! It was the only concert I've gone to that had a huge age range. I saw kids as young as 13 there and adults as old as 50. It was pretty weird.

I would say Tom Petty has lasted...he's only been making music (good music too) for 3 decades.

So has Petty... The Last DJ was a pretty good album.
