Does anyone here have the Amazon.com Visa Card?

Someone stole my debit card number and so it has been canceled. I don't have a credit card at all, and this seems like a good time to go ahead and get one. I was thinking about the Amazon.com card, since they advertise the hell out of it.

Does anyone here have it? What do you think about it? I can't believe that on the same day I'm thinking about getting two things I swore I'd never get, a credit card and a cell phone. :p

It's an Amazon Visa Signature Card. Looks like you get 3 points for every dollar spent on amazon.com, 2 points for Gas Stations, Restaurants and Drugstores , and 1 point for everything else.

Interest rate is 13.24% and no fee to have it, not sure what else is so great about it.

Edit- i don't have a cell phone either, never have, never will.

I have had one for several years now. Good card if you make a lot of purchases on Amazon. Otherwise I would recommend a Chase Freedom card, although I'm not so sure you'd be accepted without a credit history.

I have an excellent credit rating, just no card.

I have a Chase Freedom Card and was considering getting the Amazon one too... I have absolutely no need for another CC, but I do purchase stuff on Amazon a lot.

I would get the Citi Forward card instead, 5 points at dollar at book stores (including amazon), restaurants, and entertainment.

citicard uses thankyou points which effectively means 5pts = 3.5 cents (for gift cards) 3.1 cents (for prepaid card) and pretty much worthless for items... whereas amazon's 3 pts = 3 cents...
so its not as big a difference as it may seem

I like the card. It's especially useful if you impulse buy stuff from Amazon all the time like I do. Damn you Amazon lightning deals!

It's pretty stupid. Ordered some Amazon gift cards thru their rewards program and still haven't gotten them yet. I requested 2x $25 in Sept. Been calling them every other week since November. They keep giving me the cookie answer of 6-8 weeks.

what's better about the freedom?

back to the chase amazon card, i got $250 cash back in the last 2 months alone.
they had several promotions where if you spent x amount, you would get 5000 free points ($50) in addition to the regular cash back bonuses, etc.

You are a sort of modern Luddite, pretty cool.

I have the CC, but will be canceling it. AE just sent me an offer I cannot refuse, and I am already at maximum number of CC's I am willing to have at one time. Never, never, ever, carried a balance before, so interest rates are immaterial.

Yeah, I figured I could always use my debit card. I can't imagine what I would purchase on my credit card that I couldn't just as easily use my debit card or cash for.
