Call up your auto insurance agent. They can probably write you policy. If not, they can surely recommend someone. I've found that when renting, there are a few things more important than renters insurance.

1) Getting the locks changed

2) Installing an alarm (portable that you can take with you afterwards)

3) Get friendly with your neighors - so that they can look out for your house when you are gone.

Make sure you get FULL replacement value, not a pro-rated depreciation replacement value.

Call around. Liberty Mutual is the one we use. Give multiple discounts for car/renter policy. Get replacement value!!!! Buy a fire extinguisher and a dead bolt. Saves money.

We have a 30K coverage plus a separate rider for jewelry. Costs around $300/yr. Worth the peace of mind.
