I just found this on my local classifieds for 150, but I contacted and lowballed for 100 and they accepted. I'm thinking I can turn around and sell these for 150-200 bucks easy. I know Klipsch makes killer home audio but I have never heard their pc speakers. It also comes with a Creative Extigy sound blaster whatever that is.

I've used Promedia 2.1 speakers and they sounded fantastic... I don't know what other models they make though.

Can they be used for home audio? I have a good system but these could be used for a bedroom or game room if they are that good.

Congrats. Promedia 5.1 and an Extigy for $100 sounds good. My buddy paid $130 for his Promedia 2.1's, and the lowest I've seen the 2.1's for is $88 AC at BB.

What is the Extigy? A pc soundcard? And what advantage would that give over a basic one in my pc?

good luck selling them. I put mine on craigs list for 100 and some ass lowballed me for 100 and I figured for how much I paid for them it wasn't worth selling for that.

Extigy was a USB sound card by creative and it was utter failure. The external Audigy2 USB solutions were much better and much less fussy about chipsets and drivers. Also due to the lack of USB 2.0 support it would not support soundfont playback.

A pc speaker system like the promedia is fine for a dorm room, etc.

i have the 4.1... they are excellent speakers... to use them for 'home' speakers u would need to have component outs from a receiver... but my kid uses mine with a sb xfi to play all his classical stuff and he's gonna get a usb turntable for obscure stuff that's only on vinyl... if u have quality pc pieces these would make a great bedroom system with just the pc... they will reproduce any noise introduced by the pc...

The 5.1 Klipsch speakers are pretty good, but not worth what they sell for new, IMO, so $100 is a good deal. Give em a listen before you buy, they can be overamped easily. Icing on the cake, *IF* you have a use for it, is the Extigy external sound card, mind you, its no better than the on board sound most mobos have nowdays, but its portable, and has plenty of I/O jacks, and it may even have its own amp, (I forget). You will need the software for it. All of this equipment came out about 5 years ago.
P.S. Give em a listen before you buy.

The 5.1 for a dorm room? Shit, those things are good for a large computer room and then some. Very loud speakers, mine have lasted over 5 years ( 4.1).

I use the iFi as my computer speakers, with the ipod dock as a nice bonus. Highly recommended, they sound great.

Yeah, no kidding. Two friends (roommates) have Logitech Z2300s and Promedia 2.1s and they CONSTANTLY get noise complaints from the RA next door to them. Maybe for a frat house room, sure, but not a dorm...

Good info, I had briefly looked at it years ago, but decided against it, glad I did. I now have the ZS platinum, with Creatives 600watt 7.1's. Do you remember Audigys' voice recognition software application called,-- Parody Parrot?
cue the twilight zone music now girl.

I do remember that and going back further (1994) I remember purchasing that DSP processor for a SB16 SCSI2 that allowed speech synthesis. :Q

The amps tend burn out a circuit board. They charge 90 bucks to have it fixed. Read the Klipsch's own forums on this. I bought mine used for 100 bucks as well, sounded great until they broke 6 months later. And no, they never 'cranked' up.

About 2 years back I was about to get the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 or even 5.1 set. Ended up getting 2.1 Hi-fi speakers, never looked back.
