Does anyone here go tubing or canoing?

There are a few rivers around here that people go tubing or floating at, and it's pretty fun. You park your car at a certain point and a bus drops you up stream 5-10 miles and you float back to where you parked.

Went canoing and kayaking a few weeks ago. It was on a lake though, so we just drank beer and sorta floated around.

I go kayaking down the Chattahoochee river on a regular basis.

There is a rental place about a mile from my house that rents them out for $10 per person, they drop us off at the bottom of the dam and then you just call when you get to a pick up point called Settles Bridge.

It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours depending on how hard the wind is blowing, level of water and how fast you paddle. I'm going again the Sunday pending the weather holds out.

 I just did a Google search for Settles Bridge and found a youtube video of someone jumping off of it.

It's some old abandoned rusted out bridge that has only the frame of it.

I like to go over falls in my raft with a bungee cord on me and my chopper. The pilot has to be far enough in front so you fall in an arc and don't get pulled under water. It's a rush, even just doing it in my head.

We canoed for many years. Some rivers, (including parts of the Salmon in Idaho) and fished a lot of lakes in it.

Got a place in Mississippi that I go tubing when I take my vacation down in Louisiana (all of my family is there) Just me and a bunch of old friends floating down a river in tubes for about 5 hours with a an ice-chest full of beer floating along in a tube with us. Very very relaxing, great memories everytime.

Of course, the running joke is with all the beer we consume, nobody ever stops on the shore to pee.

i did this the past weekend.
camped at a resort place, they took us on a bus 12 miles upriver, got a raft and floated back to the campground
3 men, corned beef and jewish rye bread and a 30 pack of 3.2 beer.
it was pretty fun. we didnt bring enough beer, though.

by the end the novelty had worn off, along with the beer buzz. so, lesson learned. we needed about 54 beers for the entire trip.

Tubing is fun, floating down a river, drinking beer, admiring the 'scenery' . . .

Don't get the opportunity to do it very often though.
