I said for ME I gain faster than I lose, if I could lose 8 pounds in a week I would'nt need to fast or use a low carb diet.

Yeah, it is if you have no food intake and work out. Especially if you are already in a ketogenic state, hence protein.

When you work out, your muscle needs proteins/amino acids afterwards to repair itself from the damage that just occured. If you fast after busting your hump, your muscle will just dwindle away over time (catabolisis) because you aren't letting it grow to compensate for the work that just tore it up. Yeah, you'll lose a buttload of weight, but it won't be healthy, let alone productive. If you lose that muscle, you'll just have to fast longer to lose the same amount of weight, because less muscle = less calories burned.

Not to mention, fasting for a week might dump you into ketoacidosis if you have any kind of diabetic-related conditon, whether its a lot or a little. ketoacidosis = total catabolic state = have fun going to the hospital if you keep it up.

My reccomendation... Work out hard, if you're gonna do cardio, do it before you lift. Eat a butt-load of protein, and supplement your diet with a couple multi-vitamins/nutrients, esential oils, and a EFA. Definately have protein first thing in the morning, and right before you go to bed to prevent muscle loss.

The mirror/measuring tape is a better gauge of fat loss than the scale is. Don't let crazy numbers screw with your head. "I only lost 3 lbs. this week! I need to fast more!" but in reality you gained muscle, and your waist on your pants is loose. Trust your gut, even after you get rid of it.

Actually, cardio should be done after lifting.

2. Ketoacidosis is not the same as ketosis and furthermore this condition is found primarily in type 1 diabetics and if I'm not mistaken it has no bearing on whether a person eats carbs or not. In fact for diabetics its actually safer for them to consume far fewer carbs than the average person as they can't properly handle a high level of gluclose in the blood which results from the natural breakdown of carbs.

No $hit sherlock... And yes it has bearing on carbs. Ketoacidosis occurs when your body turns into a catabolic state from being in extreme ketosis for an extended period of time, with no food intake. When someone is dying of starvation, they are in ketoacidosis. Already having your body in a ketogenic state, then subduing it to fasting is probably not a good choice...

I tell you what... You gain 1 pound of muscle during the week in which you are fasting, and I'll give you $100. It is physically impossible to gain muscle mass out of no fuel whatsoever.

Ok now you're getting on my nerves you stupid fvck, nowhere in my post did I say I would gain muscle while fasting. And since we're discussing how stupid you are maybe you should look up what ketoacidosis really is, oh wait you might be a little to dense to actually know how to look up info on the net so let me help you. Go to this link and then go to this link. And when you're done there come back to this post and admit to everyone how you just jammed your fungus infected foot way up that big a$$ mouth of yours.

Oh I almost forgot to I never compared fasting to a ketogenic diet. dumb a$$

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAA

This man is officially the stupidest person ever to grace these boards. There is no one past or present who can challenge him for the title.

OP, you may edit your title's subject to reflect the ***OFFICIAL*** and ***CONFIRMED*** nature of this.

ok,so tell me exactly how you are going to get insulin on a fast?? are you going to take insulin shots?? f-ing idiot... how do you think insulin enters your system?? BY EATING. Insulin only enters your system if there is a surplus of glycogen in your system... then basically it forces the glycogen into your cells. No food = no insulin. If you are in ketosis and fast for a extreme length of time (week as u mentioned), entering ketoacidosis is inevitable, due to lack of insulin in your blood... god your dumb. I've done WAAAYY more research on ketosis, weightloss, lifting, bodybuilding, etc. than you have and could care less about your opinions, considering like 9 other people here realize how stupid your posts are as well.

Honestly, if you're into bodybuilding then why the hell would you consider fasting, let alone working up to fasting for an extended period of time? I'm sure all of us here are curious as to why that even appealed to you, let alone how you thought that would be a great bodybuilding method in the first place.

Look into CKD. A lot of bodybuilders do this during cutting to burn through fat, while keeping muscle. Much better body-building-wise than fasting, because you gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, but some people have problems keeping on it after the bulk-up phase.

Also, for the other guy's post...
If you are in a ketogenic state, most of the stuff i've read says it is much better to do cardio as a warm-up prior to weightlifting, as the last thing you want to do is rob protein from hitting your system as soon as you are done lifting. If you run afterwards, you will be spending most of the calories/carbs/proteins from the food that gets digested from protein shakes or whatnot to fuel your running, as opposed to healing your muscles. If you over-tax your system during running, and basically create a fuel deficiency in your bloodstream, your body will start breaking down muscle as well as the fat, because the muscle is already in a state of breaking down from your lifting. The last thing you want to do is fuel your cardio off your muscle, so it is wise to do cardio first, take a protein shake with sufficient carbs to fuel your weightlifting, then lift that friggin' pig iron, using whatever simple carbs you intake between running and lifting. :) If I wasn't at work I'd post links to articles and whatnot. Maybe when I get home I will post some.

headaches might be due to caffeine addiction if you drink a lot of coffee/pop/whatever during your non-fasting times??
