My whole family drinks Ginger Ale when they are sick, they seem to think it helps or something. It never really did anything for me. Does anyone else do this? Is there any particular reason why people drink Gigner Ale when they are sick?

My mom used to give me ginger ale when I had an upset stomach when I was a kid.

I don't really get sick like that anymore...

I usually drink Ginger Ale on plane rides, but I just bought a liter bottle of it. It tastes good, never heard of the curing sickness thing.

Ginger helps with nausea.

However, you'd be better off eating graham crackers or ginger snap cookies, as very few ginger ales have actual ginger in them anymore :(

I always loved GInger Ale as a kid. Now i can't stand it. When I'm sick we usually sip on some sort of white soda, usually 7-up.

My daughter gets car sick and will vomit on long rides. We were giving her Dramamine until a nice pharmacist from Pakistan suggested we try Ginger capsules instead. We did, and they work! So, my wife, who cannot read in the car without getting sick tried some and then tried reading while riding and could do so without nausea.

I've heard the same thing with sprite and 7-up.
My mom always said it was to make you burp.

I have a bottle of Reed's Jamaica Style Ginger Beer in my fridge. I like it. It isn't spicy enough for me, but damn refreshing.

I really like Blenheim Ginger Ale though. That junk is crazy spicy.

That certainly was the customary thing to do when I was a kid in New England.

Yep, I always got Vernors when I was sick. Today I drink it even when I'm feeling good. Tastes good.

I guess most ginder ale these days doesn't have any real ginger in it. but you can get ginger capsules from the health food store for air sickness. the bubbles/ carbonation in ginger ale sort of settles the stomach I suppose. but you could just as easily use lemonade.
