So I'm considering a c246 motherboard because it has 8 native intel sata ports (z390 is limited to 6 though some boards add extra sata ports via ams chip). The xeon seems a bit cheaper than an i5. One thing that confuses myself is that the 236 boards I've seen have video out but the xeon does not support video (c246 boards should be on the market in a few more weeks - this is for a nov. upgrade of my 2500k). I actually have a cheap amd video card since the latest unix kernel broke 2500k video support but other than video i can't see any advantage of z390 over c246. Anything else that I should consider in the equation (the system is not a gaming system - i use it for web access and pretty much everything but gaming).
