I would like to hear anyone's opinions on these GPS units for those who have experience, or have heard from a reputable source. I will be using it (if I get one) for long distance trips, around 700+ miles and also in different cities where I can easily get lost.

Tomtom is pretty good for their software...

I got a Holux GPS Slim 236 Bluetooth to work with my X50v

Do a search on TomTom units freezing, especially the 700/910 -- pushing the reset button every month or so just didn't appeal to me... The Garmin StreetPilot C5XX series is nice and doesn't have the serious freezing problems that the upper end TomToms do.

Oh, and voiced street names is .

TomTom 910 owner. Love it. I dont know about the reset button thing/freezing up problem crypt is talking about.

However, I also dont have any expeirence with any non TOMTOM GPS unit, so I have nothing to compare to.

I hate the name TomTom. When asking my wife for on road directions I say her name twice and now she hates it too.

myself, I'd rather spend a few more $$$ and get a Garmin. I've known people that have had them and its also brand name recognition for me. That and I hate the commercials, "Scott Scott, can I turn left here?"
