There is a .com domain I want (I already own a bunch other variants (.net, .org, .etc). The domain was purchased a year ago and the site is just an empty Wordpress install in Spanish. How should I go about trying to purchase this? The whois information goes to godaddy. I buy my domains through Hover and they recommend using domainagents.com which costs $20. Is that the right way to go?

There is another site I'm interested in that is currently up for auction on Godaddy. It has 0 bids and the starting bid is $399. Does anybody have any experience with that? If I bid $399, will other people notice and jack the price up?

I personally use Escrow.com for domain sales. they've done it a million times for high value names, so you know you can trust them for something in the hundreds of dollars area like you mentioned.

Contact the person who is the administrative contact. Tell them you have an interest in the name, ask them if they'd consider selling it.

Depending on how bad you want the name will judge how you handle it from there based on what the person says.

Is the 2nd one you mention a timed auction? If it is, wait and see, consider how much you'd be willing to spend and be awake and ready in the last hour - which is when much or the activity is going to happen anyway.
