Does anyone have any experience buying used items on Amazon?

I'm just a little curious how it works and would like to know if I understand things correctly.

I buy the used item, but Amazon handles the financial parts. Once they handle that, the item is shipped by the buyer? What if they don't ship it, does Amazon refund you your money?

Also, how do I know about shipping? Or will it say it in the shopping cart once I log in?

Amazon will protect your purchase up to $250 i think. the buyer ships and is responsible for notifying you and amazon that he has shipped.

I've done it a few times for books and CD's/DVD's. So far it's been fine. I had one person ship the incorrect item but they fixed it quickly.

Same here for books. Never a problem. They (on-line store) even shipped it to a different address than mine (as requested).

They will protect it only if the deal is done on their website. If you contact the buyer away from the site, its not protected. NEVER SEND WIRE TRANSFERS. Not protected by amazon.

I buy used textbooks from the amazone used marketplace. I always get my books, but sometimes it takes a long time, like 3-4 weeks to get my books.

I had a couple products I bought never ship. It took a month or so, but I finally got my $$ back from Amazon.

Yup, I've had a seller not ship the item before, they refunded my money after their investigation.

I had a seller ship to the wrong address once...and I never saw the book or the money again.

So I just buy things like I would regularly to have Amazon handle the money? (Kind of a dumb question, but whatever )
