I'm looking to get one just to take apart, since I amuse myself by collecting interesting things. I think they're amazing little pieces of engineering. Obviously I don't want to buy a working drive.

I took apart an ancient 10 MB hard drive and took the magnets out. Incredibly strong magnets, you wouldn't believe how strong they are.

Umm, I would assume many of us actually do know. It's not as if you're the 1st one to take apart an 15+ year old HD.

Yes I am. I have a certificate declaring that I'm the 1st one to ever take apart a 15+ year old HD.
