Does anyone have access to last-gens sales numbers, month-by-month?

Over the holiday season, it's been a huge topic in forums and podcasts about the sales of the new-gen consoles. From listening/reading a few sources, you'd think that the 360 and PS3 were in trouble with sales, but it seems to me that sales are mirroring what we saw in the last-generation with the PS2, which as we all know now has sold over 120 million units worldwide.

So, does anyone know where I can find month-to-month sales of the PS2? I briefly googled, but couldn't find anything. But I remember seeing a site quite some time ago that had the new-gen consoles on a graph, comparing them to the PS2. Anyone know what that site is? I just want to have some info so I can email a couple of these podcasts that I listen to and tell them to shut the hell up about the PS3 not selling great or the 360 not being able to achieve mass-market success and being a failure.

The doom and gloom exhibited by people over sales of the current-gen consoles is getting ridiculous, when I think they are possibly selling better than any other consoles in the past at this point in their lifecycle (the Wii obviously is, I'm more concerned with PS3/360).

Thanks. I know vgchartz isn't the definitive source for sales, but I'm familiar with how they get their numbers, and I'm satisfied with what they post. It looks like I am wrong in thinking that the numbers were similar to the PS2, but of course, price is a huge factor. I wish they'd update their numbers past month 6, though.

EDIT: Looks like this is vgchart"s", not the "z" that I assumed. So I'm not sure how accurate this info is.

VGchartz's charts were awesome until they changed them a while back, now they're just a pain in the ass and not as useful.

I don't think comparisons to last generation are really relevant regardless. And you have to take into account that the PS2 was the best selling console ever by a good margin, and it blew away the competition by a factor of ~4. Xbox 360 and PS3 will easily surpass Gamecube and Xbox of last generation. I'd expect the Xbox 360 to at least double the Xbox's sales. Wii may beat PS2 if it doesn't fizzle, but it has to have a lot more great games to have a long enough lifespan to do that. PS3 probably will be lucky to have half of the PS2's sales. I don't think anyone is concerned about the success of the 360, but the PS3 looks like it might be the Xbox of this generation - the most powerful, but the least successful.

Sure it's relevant. You're looking at a current world that's, by all means, a bigger market for video games. Comparing sales on a month-by-month basis with the most successful console ever made is a great way to chart progress of current-gen consoles.
