Does Anyone have a home DVD recorder?

Aquaman

Lifer
I'm looking to replace a busted VCR and I was thinking of a DVD recorder.

Any recommendation on brands & models.

Cheers,
Aquaman

I didn't know there was such a thing.
I use my htpc, but I don't know if I can burn the saved files (MCE2005) to disc in a format that other people can play in their dvd players.
(Haven't bothered to even look.)

Is there any such thing as a dvd/rw?
Kind of seems impractical...

I've had my Philips DVDR985 for 5 years now. So I'm partial to the +RW format. Even though it's working perfectly fine and I use my PC with dual TV/satellite tuners, I'm tempted to pickup another STB. At Sam's Club, for only $465(cnd) a Philips DVD+RW+120GB HD. Almost too good of a deal to pass up.

I got one of the $99 at Aldi's. I don't use it for much other than a DVD player. I have done a few captures, but I still prefer the old fashion way of on the pc.

liteon ones are cheap. i guess its ok for vcr replacement. quality of recording isn't really much better... and worse at 6hr
