What is more important? I've noticed that the FX processor from amd while delivering good performance, has poor FLOPS compared to intel. So would that mean for gaming MIPS is more important than FLOPs? And for video encoding FLOPS is more important than MIPS?

Might as well compare the Ghz and pretend that means something to your everyday usage.

who cares? why not use real world testing performance as a metric? it will be a whole lot more applicable to you (since you presumably live in the real world, rather than the hypothetical, mathematical fantasy world of MIPS and FLOPS)

Edited for spelling

Or, just take the average of the two, and declare whichever processor has the highest (MIPS + MFLOPS) / 2 value as the ultimate king of CPU's, now and forever.

unless your processor is the x6800 oc'ed to 5+ ghz, then it is not the king... Although I'm sure it is great =P
