Does anyone feel that the Times Square Bomber thing is too perfect?

It's bizarre on many levels. Every picture I see of the guy he has some kind of goofy expression on his face. He hates the U.S. so much that he tries to blow up times square, but then immediately waives his right to, well, pretty much everything and helps the Federal Government.
