Does anyone feel that 19" LCDs has too big a dot pitch.

...cause technically, 17" LCDs have better picture than 19" LCDs. I'm finding it hard to decide. I might just stick with 17" however. Waddayallthink?

i for this same reason would never get a 19". a 20" 16x12 and a 17" 12x10 are about the same dot pitch, and i feel thats ideal.

the dot pitch on a 19" is not good at all. its funny how back in the crt days people made a big fuss over .25 vs .28 etc dot pitch, but with lcds no one cares about it and everyone cares about refresh rates for the stupidest reason

It's all personal preference. I love 17" LCD's myself, but many older people like the larger font size of 19" LCD's. I had a 19" LCD before and loved the size, but switched to a 17" screen because it was a much newer panel with a faster response time (and I made a couple hundred bucks on the swap as well).

Nobody cares about dot pitch on LCD's because LCD's are fixed pixel displays - each pixel must be a certain size for a specific native resolution on a specific screen. CRT's with smaller dot pitches are better/clearer looking than CRT's with a higher dot pitch, while an LCD with a smaller dot pitch necessarily draws a higher resolution.

This is why I chose a 17" 1280x1024 instead of a 19" 1280x1024. Now if I could have got my hands on a 19" 1600x1200 I would have got that.

This whole desktop LCD size/resolution thing pisses me off. Why is it that I can get a 15.4" or 17" notebook with a 1920x1200 res but I can't get a desktop LCD even close to that without buying something over 20"s?

Give me a 17" 1920x1200 desktop LCD and I'd buy it in a second. Hell, I'd even consider buying a 15.4" version.

I like the larger pixel size of the 19", which is why I bought mine. However my ideal pixel size is the monitor I use at work:

Samsung 21.3"

The pizel size is larger than the Dell 2001FP, but smaller than a 19" LCD. Any pixel size smaller than this is too small for my eyes. I'm going to get something similar for home the next time I need a new monitor.

CRT's with smaller dot pitches are better/clearer looking than CRT's with a higher dot pitch, while an LCD with a smaller dot pitch necessarily draws a higher resolution.
The same is true with LCDs. People are just..(stupid).

Good, thanx for the feedback.

i don't like the huge dot pitch, it makes the images grainy and not fine. however, i hate the stupid aspect ratio of 5:4 for 17 inch lcds. why can't they just make it 4:3 like all the rest?
