Does anyone else think wind chime sounds are kinda creepy?

One of our neighbors has a wind chime, and sometimes when its windy and dark out (dead of night) i'll hear that damn noise and it kinda creeps me out. Truly unnecessary to have.

Wind chimes always remind me of the obligatory soundtrack to the inside-the-ruins-of-an-ancient-god-city level of 90's adventure/RPG games, so yeah.

It depends on if they are tuned or not. If they're all in the same key it should sound nice.

i love the sound of windchimes. in general i find them very relaxing.

although in the OPs specific nighttime scenario, i can see how they would be kinda creepy. :p

Apparently, beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
In general i like them. I've been to a few peoples houses though that have way too many set up in one area & it just ends up a cacophony of noise.

I hate windchimes, the noise gives me headaches. A very gentle and quiet, perfectly tuned chime might be okay for a short time, but otherwise it's just noise pollution.

I think they come off as creepy because they always have them in the movies about serial killers, etc..., where the cops drive out to the remote house in the middle of nowhere. You almost always hear an eerie wind chime before they walk into the house of horrors.

I like some wind chimes; very relaxing on a breezy night. But I don't like the notes of a lot of windchimes - not well tuned; notes that don't go together well. Every once in a while, I find a cheaper one; <$10, that sound really nice. But, I've even seen expensive ones that at first, sound kind of nice, but after listening to it outside for a while, you would realize isn't really that nice (but many people wouldn't be able to put a finger on why) - the frequencies are slightly off.
