I like music, but I don't have to have it on a non-stop feed like some people. I never understood the folks who "have to have my music with me at ALL times."
I actually prefer the "sounds of silence" over most music...especially the crap that gets churned out nowadays.

Interesting, conversely I prefer the sound of music to silence, but that's just because I can't bare silence, I prefer a repeat of an old tv show in the background to music however.

I didn't like music that much when I was younger (early teens)... Didn't buy any albums, listen to the radio or download any music (not that you really could with a 33.6kbps modem). Then I started listening to music a lot, not just in the background but actually sitting on the couch, eyes closed, listening like that for several hours a day. Still didn't listen to the radio though... :p

These days it comes and goes.. some days I must have some music in the background to make it through the day, other times, like right now, I prefer the sound of silence.

I'm not, what makes you think that? Do you think the manner I post might result in me getting banned for some reason?!
No, you post in a manner that makes it seem like you used to be a member here who was banned and this is a new account for you.

Oh ok, well if your saying I post with an apparent experience then YAY! If your saying I post as though I am someone else you know who's been banned then ohhh....

I'm like this. I'm also very picky about what music I like. I don't dislike music but I'm not really interested in it either... again, especially the crap you hear all the time today: rap and rap-imitators, tone deaf emo kids, singers who sound like they're on the verge of falling asleep, etc.

I guess the best way of saying it isn't that I don't dislike music but I'm pretty much indifferent to it. Sometimes it's nice to have on in the background especially if I'm going for a walk but it's not a big deal.

Thankyou! :) Nice to find a like-minded soul

I don't hate music (in fact, I really do enjoy good music.) but I don't have to be constantly surrounded by it. If I am trying to focus, I prefer silence.

I don't like any particular genre of music over another. There are some that I dislike (rap) but none that I prefer over everything else.

I only felt this way when I was in preschool. And even then, I enjoyed the sound of super mario :)

That's a fair viewpoint, I on the other hand can't work in silence, i need some sound around me, whether it's the sound of traffic, a TV show repeat, or music.

There are times when I when I can't stand music. Those times I have to listen to an audiobook, podcast, talk radio, etc. or nothing at all. Then there are other times when I suppose I'm sort of primed for it and don't know it until I hear the right song, then I'll be fighting to urge to pound the steering wheel (if I'm in my car) in time with the music and belt out the lyrics.

I definitely like music, just not all the time. I certainly don't prefer it as barely heard background noise for my life. When I listen to music I really listen to it.

See I've tried really listening to music, and generally all I here is the same crap as when it's on in the background, except louder :hmm:

Weird.

I don't listen to music 100% of the time, but I fancy quite a bit of music during a decent chunk of times I am actually able to make such a choice.

I enjoy music, and I get something out of music. For me, it's a mood tool: it can provide relaxation, it can increase energy, and a whole host of other mood-changes.. music is like a mood-elevation tool, one that can provide a whole host of specific feelings. I like it. :)

I can imagine being annoyed at music that doesn't fit a category you enjoy... but not having a single genre of music that can provide something for your wiring... that's perhaps one type of mind that I cannot imagine using intuition and empathy (and I can "get in the head" of many a type of person if I can think about all the things I know that motivates them to do anything... the more motivators, the more accurate that characterization becomes in my mind.. but nevermind that).

There'll always be someone here and there that completely defies everything I know or believe. Welcome to that short list, I guess that about sums up that tangent. ;)

Thanks, nice to know I've surprised you somewhat. I just don't get it, I suppose.
