Only two of us at work would go to war if drafted(I'm not saying its going to happen) but they all say we need to "bomb the crap out of them". WTF is that? War is OK as long as you're not fighting it? It just pisses me off that they have no Patriotism at all. They didn't even know that it was illegal to dodge a draft! None of them had heard about the "selective service card" that they should have gotten when they turned 18. I would go because that could have been any one of my friends or relatives on those planes or buildings. One of the stipulations of living in this country is that you may be called to defend it.

Ronstang, I could do that when I was poor, but now that I got lots a bucks, I find that talking with my mouth full of bills is not only uncomfortable, but makes me less coherent then even my norm.

...............CLAPS LOUDLY.................

I totally agree with that statement. Its easy to talk out of your ass but when called to duty do you really love your country or would you rather hide or go back to your country of origin?

It called fair-weather patriotism. They're all gung-ho to fight when 'fighting' means launching missiles from 800 miles away. But, when they might have to actually engage in battle, they're suddenly against the mission they were previously so gung-ho about.

Grminalac, you are just another person who thinks your little contributions which were taken from your pay check buys your freedom, buys your security, buys your neighbors life for your opportunity to collect next weeks paycheck. Without the people, there is no government. Without the people there is no military, is no police department, is no fire department, is no city, is no workplace, is no next paycheck to pay taxes from. People demand all things from thier government and feel they can simply buy those services. People have to fill all those positions which serve you. When we run out of people willing to fill those positions we will have no more country.

No mastertech, I am one of those people that KNOWS those rights were granted to me by the CONSTITUTION of THE US OF A. I HAVE the right to LIFE, LIBERTY, and THE PURSUIT OF PROPERTY. I also know what my father has told me of Vietnam and what went down there. You see he was a MP in the CID department, basically the military branch of the CIA. He saw the CIA scoundrels allow drugs into the country and there wasn't anything he could do about it. You see the CIa would send him one place to stop the flow of drugs, meanwhile the "bad" guys would bring the drugs another route. OOPS we screwed up guess another shipment of drugs got in!! (What better way to control a population of a million 18 year old soldiers than to allow them to get high- per CIA) I also have seen the first hand effects of what agent orange has done to my uncle: Skin peeling off in large sheets CONSTANTLY and other terrible things I would not and cannot name. I have seen first hand what happened to my neighbor, who was in the airforce and now suffers the consequences from the cleanup from a INTERCONTINENTAL NUCLEAR MISSLE. A terrible accident in which the rocket booster exploded during refueling.... Plutonium scattered everywhere.... After the "cleanup" what did the govewrnment do???... OK its safe, we'll use the facility as a storage shed... One in which they spent every day in and out for 2 years???? Too bad he glows in the dark now.

I am a taxpayer, a voter and a part of the government!!!!

No, i am saying that some people serve their country in different ways, yes if there was a draft and i had to go i would, but I'm not stupid enough to enlist. It does not make someone unpatriotic because they do not want to be part of their foolish international games.

What i am basically saying is that if a person believe something is morally wrong they do have a right as an american to say NO! Had people stood up for their right in NAZI germany countless lives could have been saved. I have seen what OUR government is capable of. I believe it was everyones right not to serve in Vietnam, even my father admits how stupid he was to enlist.... We learned a valuable lesson in vietnam lets not repeat it.

So are you saying that your relatives who suffer the effects of war service regret it? I too have a brother who suffers from the horror of agent orange. I too have witnessed the horrors of war in uniform. As I have stated many times, no one hates war more than the veteran who has witnessed it and served in it. However that does not mean that I or any other veteran would discharge the responsibility of future generations to preserve our nations security or the very constitution that guarantees your rights as a citizen. Those rights, that constitution was not earned without bloodshed or hardship. That constitution was not written by cowards who wanted others to do the job for them. It was written by many of our greatest patriots who served our country with honor and who knew thier sacrifice was the only way to obtain freedom from tyranny. That constitution wasnt something written by a bunch of pacifists who found a ready made home with all the amenities and a government to protect it. No government or its people will stand without unity and a willingness to sacrifice for its future generations. I have no doubt that all soldiers who suffer thier wounds to this day love America and all for which it stands. For who knows the great gift of peace and freedom better than those who suffered for it.

Umm....you do know, of course, you've confused the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution. It's the Declaration that states "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The Constitution has no statement such as that.

as far as my patriotism, I spent 7 years in the military, was graced with the pleasure to visit Southeast Asia (1971-72), Europe (1977), and all over the US (1971-1979).
