Does anyone else have problems reading cdr's with creative drives?

I have a 52x creative cdrom drive that when I try to install programs off of cdr's it will start working and get part way through the install then it will start making a clicking noise and quit reading the cdr. Is it possible to fix this without getting a new cdrom, and I don't think I can return it for a different one because I recieved it for Christmas.

I have a Creative 52x and Ive had no problems playing CD-R music cds or installing programs off of the CD-R. Could be your drive is messed up.
 
I don't know, it might be that. It sounds to me like the cdr is getting thrown up on to the little pieces of plastic on the sides that are supposed to hold it in place?
 
Used to have CL52x...as the drive got older, I started have probs reading certain CD-R's and CD-RW....make sure you have the latest firmware. If it keeps getting worse, return it.
