Does anyone else have a sternum that cracks?

For about 5-6 years now my sternum will crack if I lean back and spread my arms out. It hurts like a b1tch for a second or two and then feels like the pressure was relieved. It's weird cause I can feel my chest kinda of tightened up and I know my sternum needs cracked. The longer I let it go, the more tight my chest gets and the louder the crack will be. I can normally do this about 2-3 day, or whenever my chest gets tight again.

A few doctors have said a few different things, but none have a for sure answer as to what is going on. X-ray look fine, etc. It's just really annoying because sometimes it feels like it needs cracked, and no matter how hard I try I can't do it, so I just have to wait for more presure to build up. I found a few things on google but still no definite answers as to what is up?

I'm glad you went and talked to a doctor about it. That's kind of screwed up.

Bruised mine once in a car wreck. Hurt like a mutha when I sneezed or coughed.

That sounds quite odd, though. Maybe you were once abducted by aliens and they used a rib spreader and damaged something.

You're not alone. I crack my sternum everyday in a similar manner.

Cracks, but no pain. Started sometime last year--must be an epidemic.

it's good to know we have a few fellow crackers here. So do you have any level of pain at all? Some days it will bug me all day long, and I will constantly try to crack it. Other days I don't even know its there.

thats probably the only part of my body that doesnt crack...after 9 years of football my knees, shoulder, wrist, ankles and hips crack...the hip is the worst, it sounds like someone opening a bottle of champaigne..."POP!!!"
