Does anyone else HATE doing cardio?

I honestly cant stand doing straight up cardio...

Every time I attempt to run, row or do something like that i hate it. I guess because its so damn monotonous and takes up so much time. I really dont see how people can use those cardio machines for 30 -45 mins. I'd die outta boredom....

Is there any good way to make cardio fun? I have no problems spending 2 hours lifting weights, but i could never run for 2 hours...

I hate running (unless its in context, like basketball), but I don't mind biking or swimming or something like that.

I used to hate it too but then I tried one of the cardio machines with a heart rate monitor on it. I realized that prior to that, I was working WAY to hard and therefore hated it. Plus in hte past my heart rate was probably around 180 while exercising whereas it really only needs to be around 160. I guess I hated it b/c it was so hard and I thought I was dying all the time and you hate it b/c it's boring so this might not help you.

I dont like it that much but you get used to it and if you think about something else than actually the running part or exercise you get a lot more done faster.

I watch TV all the time while doing it, i find it that watching sports makes it easier like hockey, i concentrate on the game and think that i'm playing at the game. sound weird but works.

Do you listen to music while you are doing your cardio?

not when i was rowing. But i generally try to make it intensive rather than time-consuming. I think staley8 might a good point though, if the cardio is intensive and long i would end up hating it... 🙂

I hate running. It causes a lot stress on my bad ankles.

But I actually enjoy exercise biking. I just turn on some trash MTV show like the real world, pedal until the fan thing drowns out the sound of those b|tches whining about a tube top or something and then I can just watch pretty girls that I can't hear while getting exercise. A half hour flies by.

If I want to actually watch something, I just turn on the closed captioning and I can read it. When commercials come on, I pedal harder as a kind of game against myself.

try HIIT (high intensity interval training). 4 minutes total, running or elliptical, or bike, etc.. 30 seconds of moderate slow pace, then switch up to full blast 30 secs, then back to 30 secs mod/slow, etc.. untill 4 minutes are up.

Personally, I can't stand lifting weights. I love running, biking, anything that'll get me outside, but lifting weights is in my opinion one of the most boring exercise activities.

Running from the police is probably good cardio - I think I'm going to check into that.

Let me know what you decide...maybe we could work together, but against each other. 😉

it interferes with powerlifting &
i don't have time to do it (except i take my dogs for long walks
when the weather's good).

Music helps me a lot. I'm a swimmer, so I don't mind swimming for long periods of time, but lately I've been trying to get my abs back in shape for summer so I've been doing a lot of running, and for the past two weeks I was having a really hard time going past 5 or 6 miles, I just got to a point where I was watching the clock incessantly and felt like stopping so I did. Today I brought along my 40gb lyra and let that cycle through some play lists and I didn't even notice 6 miles go by, and I went to 8.5 before stopping. Yes I know I'm a slack B@stard for running on a treadmill instead of outside, but working a full time job and taking 9 credits makes time (esp during the day) a precious comodity.

I don't feel right if I don't exercise for at least an hour a day.

Generally I do an hour on an exercise bike while watching a funny movie, then I do 2 to 3 miles on the track at the school across my street.

The reason why you hate the exercise is because your just that out of shape. If you're built up enough for a certain activity, doing it aint all that bad. I suggest you stop being lazy and tough it out for the first few weeks, you'll be surprised just how far you get.

I do HIIT but you have to do more than 4 minutes for it to do anything. Get up to at least 10-15.

Music can help or watching tv. i really don't care for it, but it's a necessity. lately I've taken to waking up 30 min early and just going for a 25 min run. I actually prefer it without an mp3 player now and I find it a peaceful good way to start the day.

I hate running and stuff too but I make up for it buy playing sports for a long time... The competition factor makes sports more fun.
