Does anyone else follow this pattern when doing homework?

I can generally only work for about 45 minutes before I need an hour break.

Well, I haven't done "homework" in over 15 years, but back then I did the equivalent. Intense effort for a while, then distraction for a while. Lather, rinse, repeat.
