Both sites have the same Page Rank, so it's a level playing field (as far as Google).
Anandtech has 5,930 referrals.
Tomshardware has 15,600 referrals.
Anandtech has some catching up to do. If you have a site, then put their link on it, with the anchor text reading something like "Anandtech's Hardware Reviews". Also if anyone wants to dedicate a little time, start searching for all the computer hardware releated pages on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_hardware That page has a PR of 5 which is pretty good, but an additional benefit is how many other sites scrape this wiki for the content and end up displaying your link.
It would also be to Anandtech's benefit if they made old forum threads indexable by search engine spiders. After 90 days, which is when I think posts are archived, they should export them to less graphic intense static pages, and generate an Index page linked to in the footer of every forum page. Googlebot would eat it up like candy.
