Does anyone else do this?

I love to read and I am always reading a book. So I tend to buy a few books at a time so I have books in reserve. However, if I hear about a book that sounds interesting, I'll order that, even if I have like 5 books in reserve.

At one point, I had over 40 books in reserve. I'm not sure what it is now, but its still pretty high. Oh, and I just ordered 4 more today.

Also, if I find an author I like, I'll search out all of his/her work.

I do the author thing. But as for the rest, I have started using the library for space reasons.

At most I will have 10 unread books in reserve. The problem I have is that I don't have room for my entire library of read books and have to keep many of them in boxes in the crawlspace. I would love to have book cases in every room so that all of my books could be easily available.

dam, I typically have no more than one book in reserve, if that. 40 seems a bit excessive, but its your money, so enjoy.

Yes, if I see something I'm interested in I'll buy it regardless of how far behind I am. If I have a decent reserve I'll often wait for the paperback though.

Also yes for authors, though usually not when they stop doing their own writing and just start co-branding books with the real author.

I want an e-ink reader so I can keep more of my library as ebooks, but I may wait for the second version of Kindle.

book cases are not expensive.
Space to put them in is.

i don't know that i could use something like that. i like the feel of the books. I think there's more of a connection that way.

i stare at a pc screen enouh as it is too, so i'm not sure i;d want to stare at one while trying to relax.

e-ink is supposed to be like reading paper since it's reflected light not backlit glare, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

I have to donate books to charity or library sales since I just don't have room for them all, so being able to keep hundreds of books on my hard drive (and backup DVD) would help.

Getting a book from Amazon in less than a minute would also be nice, when there's nothing in the reserve pile that I feel like reading right now.

I have ~5 books on reserve... and I doubt I will get to them since I started books on tape via MP3.

Yes. I look back at my night stand, and I have ~7 books I could be reading, but I'm waiting for To Have and Have Not by Ernest Hemingway.
