Does anyone blame China for suppressing political dissent?

Just bounce on over to Drudge or Fox News to see what the opposite end of the spectrum looks like, which is out of control conspiracy BS and partisanship. Politically biased news organizations and blogs, who have shed any form of journalistic ethics, have wedged an ideological divide in this country so profound that it threatens the very existence of our Republic. Our country is incapable of making any difficult political choices now, and thus we are governed by a series of short term patches and deals while the governing party waits for the other side to vanish into thin air so they can get their ideologically pure agenda through without compromise.

So with that said, why would China, which has over 1 billion people, want to emulate our political system AT ALL? They would descend into chaos if they allowed agenda driven media organizations to constantly sow discord among their varying ethnic groups just to make a buck. The nationalistic identity that binds their people together is much looser than our own, and wouldn't take much to fracture.

We need to stop pretending that our way is the best way simply because we are America. Our country is a pretty piss poor example of the virtues of unfettered, free media, and I cant blame China one bit for wanting no part of it.

Understood, I think every leftist liberal wishes they had an Authoritarian Government party to vote for so they could force the people to do what they think is best.

LOL every time I see righties complain about China I have to laugh. The average Chinese worker has little benefits, gets paid hardly anything, and works crazy amounts of hours just to survive - isn't that the ideal Republican utopia?

At least the OP came out and said he is for censorship. Not a lot of the liberals will be honest about it.

Although for some reason I would not be said if he stood in front of a tank......

Be sure to grow a big centralized government, so when !@#holes like Romney take control of it you'll be begging for the liberties you so eagerly trashed. That goes for the OP and all Leftists.

The Chinese are a smart people. I wonder how many prisoners they pay to come on to American message boards and spout pro-Chinese bullshit?

Fallacy of the OP is that while he notes the problems with our own system, he does not acknowledge or address far worse problems with the alternative of a state run media. We at least have a marketplace of ideas here, even though much of what is available in the market place is horseshit. With state run media, it's 100% horseshit, 100% of the time, and there are no choices or alternatives. I'd rather see 2 opposing piles of horseshit and sort out the truth as between the two of them than have my head stuck in the same pile of horseshit all the time to where I don't even realize that anything exists outside of it and for all I know it smells like roses and lilac in there. Besides, some of what is in our media isn't even horseshit. A little of it, anyway, sometimes.

As much as the US system does suck in many ways it's a million times better than China's.

If you don't believe me go ask a Chinese citizen to post sh*t about their government like you just did and see how long they're allowed to get away with it for. The fact you can even discuss the negatives of the US system is proof positive it's superior to China's. That is, unless it's just a silly facade to let people bitch and complain who have no real power, and well there is some truth to that unfortunately.

Our way isn't best because we are America, it's best because everyone freely can express their opinion, even morons.

So your solution for private politically biased news organizations and blogs that distort the truth in favor of partisan ideology is to replace them with government-run politically biased news organizations and blogs that distort the truth in favor of partisan ideology like they have in China? How does this make any sense?

From what I understand, Red China employs quite a few "Cihinese bots" to spam many various political/opinion style forums with pro-Chinese propoganda.

I never claimed I support the Chinese system. My point is that we aren't the best stewards of the political system we preach to others. We, as a developed country, can not responsibly excercise our own system of government, so China sure as hell can't. The Chinese government believes we are trying to weaken them by promoting free political processes and free speech to their people. They are probably right.

Maybe we preach it to others in the hopes that they'll get it right. ;)

so, let me get this straight, we're comparing centuries of oppression to some of our current media practices?

India has been greatly divided by its politicians and then the media for over 70 years, Indians enjoy almost equal freedom by law compared by US and yet has done pretty well for itself.
Stop blaming Fox news for everything thats wrong, Left has MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CNN, and right has Fox, what do you want to do, shut them off too? every side has a right to have a voice.
Key is not the divide, key is how many people get effected by it. Poor and uneducated how cannot think for themselves are the one that get brainwashed. We need better parenting and better education so that our future generations can think for themselves. To have better parenting and education we need more stable families, for that we need more stable jobs, for that we need protectionism and conservatism, so screw China and go Fox

Chinese is a backwards culture that can't really support a liberal democracy.

Same reason India is such a shithole.
