Does anyone actually use x64?

I recently converted, I like it just as much as 32bit if not more. The only annoyance I guess would be the driver and application support. 64bit Farcry and 7zip Intelipoint and Intelitype are about the only 64bit apps I have. I have a lot of 32bit of course.

That is actually reassuring that someone does. I was researching x64 before I switched, saw lots of negative compatability comments.

I did, then realized there was no benefit and lots of problems, and switched back.

I liked the improved "snap" of the interface, but the lack of driver support for my Gretag Macbeth color management system killed the deal for me. Thus, back to XP32 it has been for the past few months. Maybe if GMB gets on the ball with driver support I'll try it again, but that's most likely not going to happen until Vista, at which point it won't matter. :(

I switched and have one X2 that uses that and Ubuntu only. No problems, all drivers and love the snappier feeling. I have had no issues with XP 64 whatsoever.

I have all drivers except my Epson Perfection 3490 scanner. My older Canon IP3000 works wonderfully, Canon actually supports x64 on a really wide scale. I like the snappier feeling, and the fact that is built on 2k3 code. I think since I have a Vmware license, I'll put 32bit XP on there for scanning photos.

I tried recently on a Sempron 2600+. Used Win XP 64bit edition.
It didn't have a driver for my onboard NIC but after I installed the 64bit driver version for the onboard gigabit NIC, it would work fine UNTIL you rebooted the system. Then, everytime shortly after you rebooted the system, it would BSOD EVERYTIME no matter if you used Safe Mode with or without networking. It was a Marvell brand gigabit NIC. I think if I could've got this to work, the other drivers would've worked and I could've gotten everything setup.

I use it for internet browsing and gaming mostly. I haven't had any problems yet, but then again I don't have much in the way of peripherals.

Tried x64 on my new video rig but switched back to Win XP pro. Too much of a hassle trying to find the right drivers for my video and capture cards.

I used it since release until last month when my guild switched from ventrilo to teamspeak. Apparently the codec that TS uses doesn't play nice with XP64 hogs the CPU alot. It wouldn't be so bad IF it didn't effect my framerates in every game that we play.

I use it, with only a couple issues:

1. Haven't found any drivers for my Canon ip1500 (so now it's connected to laptop).

2. Lack of Virtual CD mounting software. I know Daemon Tools has an x64 version out, but it fails to install on my x64 machine. Workaround: don't be lazy and actually put the CD in the drive.

Granted I also don't have much software that's actually 64-bit at this point, so x64 isn't really providing me much benefit. I do have 3 GB RAM, so with x64 one application should be able to address > 2 GB. Again, not very useful at this point since I don't really run anything that uses that much RAM (I do run some apps that come close, so at least I'm somewhat future proof).

I installed it, it works for pretty much everything I do, so I have never seen a reason to go back to 32-bit XP.

I have tried installing x64, but can't for some reason. I think my mobo only recognizes my 64 bit Athlon x2 CPU only after i installed the driver. And I had to install the 32 bit version of XP before I can install the driver... So no x64 for me...

But I'll heard that x64 isn't even compatible with Norton.... if it true?

now that daemon tools has a 64bit version, I would use it if I ever went back to windows.

I like it. The funniest thing though that I've found is that Windows update website is not compatible with IE x64. Thought that to be a little strange, though maybe they've fixed that by now.
