Does anybody use nVidia's PureVideo decoder??

I use media player 10 to playback video files from my TiVo (mpeg-2). I was using the power DVD codec but I thought I would try PureVideo instead.

I am running a 7900 GT (lastest purevideo and forceware). Anyway, it plays the files fine and it looks pretty good but if I keep changing the position of the file (like when I am trying to advance past the commerical breaks) media player locks up. Power DVD never did this.

Anyone else try this? (BTW- I will probably end up getting rid of it after the trial)

I haven't tried to do this with a DVD but I will soon.

I use it with Media Center and an ATI video card, and I haven't had any problems. Well, I should say, any problems I had were ATI driver issues.

meh no. it costs extra and thats bs. no one should pay and then maybe they'll get the message and make it free like it is with ati cards.

Where is it? If there's a player in there, I've never seen it...

It doesn't install a shortcut for itself. it's in the Program files/nvidia/forceware multimedia/ directory.

You may also want to try Media Player Classic since it can utilize whatever codecs are installed (or its own integrated ones) to play anything. I have not tried Nvidia's in ages but most corporate players are limited 'cause they have an interest in promoting their own schtuff. However, if you really only want to play MPEG-2 then mayhaps it will do.

Yeah I'm not really sure what all this Purevideo is for, and what applications have support for it. I read only WMP10 and one other had support for playback (after installing the Purevideo decoder) but it'd be nice if MPC could too.

Yeah, it sux that a standard decoder/filter is not provided... similar deal with ATI's DivX support being limited to that player. I'm fine with functionality being restricted to the hardware to promote hardware sales as opposed to selling the software (like Nvidia does), but for fooks sake let the end-user choose any player.
