Does anybody use ISP e-mail again?

When Internet usage was first popular, in the late 90s say, most used ISP e-mail but does anybody really use it now? When there are IMAP apps like Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail, is there a need for ISP e-mail with an associated e-mail client?

b) you don't want to migrate because it's a hassle/you don't know how to

if you want to, you could also buy a domain name, set up the mail exchange servers to point to your own email server / google apps

That's my current problem and my ISP was just bought out by Time Warner. Now I'll need to change all of my e-mail logins. Won't make that mistake (ISP e-mail addresses) again.

I agree...

For about $10/yr there is no reason no to.

There are multiple choices for actually hosting your email, but I also use google apps right now.

From time to time I've seen requirements to use an ISP addy. In the event of any issues that may arise from usage of that address it would be easier to get with the ISP for information and is a bit less anonymous than using gmail or yahoo, etc.

That said I've still got about seven if not more. At the time, the thing to do seemed to be to get as many as you could.
