Howdy all,

I finally was able to get windvd working with win2k. Or so I thought. On the reboot, win2k kept bsod'ing for one reason or another until the point where it didn't even have the courtesy to finish booting before crashing. On the last crash, evidently something went wrong because windows stops loading right after the os choice screen and says the file winnt\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt.

The repair option didn't work so I did a fresh install to a different drive to see if I could replace or repair the file win2k was looking for. The only problem is that in the original version of win2k, there is now winnt\system32\config folder, much less a "system.(whatever, win2k didn't say)" file. There is, however, such a folder and file in the fresh installation I did, but I couldn't copy any of the files because they were in use.

My last try before heading over here was to create a config folder in the system32 directory (which I was a little iffy about since I had to rename a config file...) and copy all the files in the rescue folder to it. That got me to the login screen, but after I enter in my login name and password, win2k thinks for a bit and then spits out the login page again.

What do you all think? Should I just go with a reinstall or is there a way to fix my problem? THe only pain about a reinstall is that I'm back on a 33k connection and downloading all the updates again is going to take a while...

Thanks,

BB

you must re-install

your system file is unique to your system.
no other system file will work
