i personally just find it to be too much effort sometimes to move my hand over from the keyboard just to use that thing. i tend to be able to get around windows well enough with alt-tabbing around, general tabbing, lots of shortcuts, and the windows button. so why don't all programs have a lot more keyboard shortcuts? i'd be willing to learn them

Hehe test Yourself, Remove your mouse and use your comp with only the keyboard. See how long it lasts

i'm sure i could get by for about a week or so, if i cut off my gaming and use those mousekeys to kinda fake a mouse with mousekeys whenever the keyboard doesn't provide a way out.

and i guess the mouse is pretty indispensible, but i would still like some more keyboard-centric navigation

Just saw something about that on TLC the other day. This guy had some wires on his head and was trying to go through a virtual tunnel by using his brain waves. He'd think "right" and move right...granted it wasn't the most smooth ride through the tunnel but it was working :)

There's a system out now that has two cameras mounted on your monitor which detect your eye movement and move the cursor thusly. THe system is coupled with a sensor worn on the index finger which can detect when you "think" about a click (measures miniscule muscle movement).

From what I read it was fairly accurate. Unless you're epileptic.
*click**click**click**click**click* oops....

Anyhoo, I use a Logitech Trackman FX for my pointandclick needs. No unnecessary wrist movement. Still gotta do the keyboard-nav thing when scrolling through my pr0n tho!

i do. once i'd got used to the trackpoint on my laptop i find the mouse on the desktop bloody unwieldy and i have trouble finding the damn thing. trackpoint's cool, though i have seen my daughter in a really unco mood sweep it across the screen and activate everything on the desktop. :D
