Does anybody else hate Slashdot's comments structure?

I don't think I find any other comments system on the internet less usable. It's just unecessarily obfuscated and... simply bad.

You'd think a bunch of nerds determined to save the world from Microsoft would start by saving themselves from crappy forums...

/. is one of the few places on earth you will find a greater collection of hopeless virgins than ATOT.

But I agree, they're comment system sucks gigantic penis.

I agree. That was the first thing that I noticed. The people seem to think that way also. I think it's mostly made up of the quirky kinds of socially malfunctioning engineers who can't tie their shoes or form a sentence that flows.

I just pull their RSS feed for tech news. I never bother reading through their comments because the system is archaic. They need to get with the times/.

/. is filled with malfunctioning human beings such that the geek community itself has rejected them. Overopinionated fanboyism is the accepted norm there. The rest of the nerd world has rejected that. It's like P&N, except worse.

Eh I prefer slashdot's comment system. I can filter based on rating and so forth.

It depends on how many comments there are on a story. If there are 500 or more I set it to a 4 or 5 rating, but if its only around 200-300 I'll do a 2 or 3.

I can scroll down and read every comment fairly fast. I do this for all stories that interest me (usually only like 2-3 per day... I read the summary of the rest though)

I find it fairly efficient and I like the way comments nest (you can change the view). If I like a particular comment and I want to read the responses I just right click->new tab it.

Whats so bad about it? It works as good as it can IMO.

WTF? How can so many people dislike it? What is it (in particular)? Its so efficient and serves its purpose. It would -NEVER- work with a forum software like fusetalk if thats what you are thinking...
